I just had to take a couple of Excedrin’s – Got a headache thinkin’ about this one. I have 3 daughter’s. I was thinking about when they were born and what a surprise everything was. It reminded me of Forrest Gump’s famous line – “Life’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you got ’till……” Well, that’s the way it was back then. When the first two were born I was banished to this small, dark, waiting room to await the news from the doctor. I had to wait to buy the “It’s a boy” or “It’s a girl” cigars from the hospital gift shop until the doctor came out of the delivery room and told me if I had a daughter or son. When my third daughter was born the “rules” had changed in my favor – I was now included in the production and I could see for myself which shelf I was headed for in the gift shop. Now that my Daughters are grown and I keeping adding grandchildren to my Christmas shopping list, the “rules” are still changing! If I remember right, (boy this is starting to hurt,) my Daughters each knew ahead of time if there were 10 little toes and fingers attached to a boy or girl! The wonders of technology! Now the doctor could do this “ultra-sound” thingy and confirm everything before the big day!
Now that brings me to the subject of this post. A client and his wife are expecting in a couple of months. Wouldn’t you know, the other day they come in totin’ this 4 X 6 glossy of their baby. What’s going on here? Little Sophie isn’t supposed to arrive for another 2 months! It’s like a regular picture you would take of a baby – except is was in the old time sepia tone. I did a little research on this new 3D/4D technology and find that the doctors are now cuttin’ in on my territory offering “Photo Packages” of so many 4 X 6′s, 5 X 7′s and get this, glossy 8 X 10′s. They’re gonna have to work on their pricing a bit, because I thought $295 bucks was out of line for just a few 4 X 6 prints. Back to the story….They buy this frame that has 2 (get this) 4 X 6 slots in it! (You know what’s coming next) So that they can have a “Before” and “After” shot side by side. What is this world coming too?
