I received a call from this young lady a couple of weeks ago looking for a photographer in Salisbury, NC wanting to book a Family Reunion Session. I already had 2 sessions scheduled for that day, but knew I could fit one more in. We arrived at Hurley Park ready to start our busy day. I can honestly say that it was a real pleasure working with her family – everyone was focused on the shots and cooperated wonderfully. Mother nature also had a lot to do with how the session turned out too! Here are a few poses from the session.

Little Evan was just 4 days old last Saturday. Now that would put me at 20,833 days old. He has a long way to go to catch up! It has been a long time since I have photographed a newborn, but I was able to catch him doing one of the 3 things newborns do best!

I had a busy day this last Saturday. Sophie is just about 8 months old now. Being a father of 3 daughters myself, it is very easy to forget just how quickly a child grows and develops. Way to fast when you are looking back at your own. Now I get worn out just watching children – they have way too much energy for me. I just love the facial expressions they come up with.

Here she is giving me the thumbs-up.

I think she just spotted something – now what can I get into next!

The finals definitely kept the fans on the edge of their seats as Chris Rini ran a 4.147 @ 182 against Ronnie Gardner’s 4.200 @ 180. There were 19 cars wanting a piece of the prize money today. Top qualifier was Darrin Hoyle with a 4.142. Chris Rini was .07 behind with a 4.216in the #8 spot, but managed to sort out any problems he had by the beginning by the final round. This was Chris’s second win of the season at the Dirty Mo.

Below is one of my favorite cars. I guess growing up in the era I did, and seeing a lot of nice ’57’s on the street and strip has never worn off. This week I was sure to bring my flashes and lots of spare batteries. I was experimenting with different techniques and liked the way these turned out.

Gotham City Pro Mod

Here is a shot of Chris Groom's beautiful Camaro coming out of the water box. Chris took the Lil'Dog win with a 4.21.

Here Todd Howard and Rocky Rainor pair off

Here's "Happy" Gilmer Hinshaw in his Senecal Construction Chevrolet Cobalt coming out of the water box. He qualified sixth with a 4.203.

In the Jr. Dragster class, Mitchell Harkey stuck it out to the finals to take the win.
Here are a few shots of some of the other contenders in the field. There’s something about a huge huffer sitting on top of a race motor the grabs my attention.

Blown Pro Mod Corvette

Another crowd favorite. What a display of raw horsepower.

Here's my favorite '57 trying to get slowed down after another 180 MPH run.

Here Chris Groom is showing us what it takes to get to the winner's circle!

George and Sara celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary August 1, 2009. This was the first vow renual that I have attended and I was really impressed. George and Sara knew exactly what to do. (As if they haven’t had a practice run at it before!) Everything went smoothly and from what I could see everyone had a fantastic time.

I moved to frame the couple between the candles. I liked the way the candles lead you right to their faces.
I caught this little girl hanging around the cake a little too long. I noticed that the window light was just perfect, so I tried to hide behind a plant to wait and see if I could catch her sampling the icing. Suddenly she must have sensed I was there and turned to see who was watching her. I caught the expression of her ”see, I’m not doing anything wrong” glance at the right moment.

I watched the couple as they were dancing and changed my position to frame them behind the cake.

George also plays trumpet with the Salisbury Swing Band. A very talented group of musicians!

Thank you George and Sara for a wonderful time. It wasn’t like I was working at all – just there enjoying myself with all the other wonderful guests.
