Tracie – Family Reunion

I received a call from this young lady a couple of weeks ago looking for a photographer in Salisbury, NC wanting to book a Family Reunion Session.  I already had 2 sessions scheduled for that day, but knew I could fit one more in.  We arrived at Hurley Park ready to start our busy day.  I can honestly say that it was a real pleasure working with her family – everyone was focused on the shots and cooperated wonderfully.  Mother nature also had a lot to do with how the session turned out too!  Here are a few poses from the session.

Evan – Newborn

Little Evan was just 4 days old last Saturday.  Now that would put me at 20,833 days old.  He has a long way to go to catch up!  It has been a long time since I have photographed a newborn, but I was able to catch him doing one of the 3 things newborns do best!

Sophie

I had a busy day this last Saturday.  Sophie is just about 8 months old now.  Being a father of 3 daughters myself, it is very easy to forget just how quickly a child grows and develops.  Way to fast when you are looking back at your own.  Now I get worn out just watching children – they have way too much energy for me.  I just love the facial expressions they come up with.

Here she is giving me the thumbs-up.

I think she just spotted something – now what can I get into next!

George and Sara's 25th Wedding Anniversary

George and Sara celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary August 1, 2009.  This was the first vow renual that I have attended and I was really impressed.  George and Sara knew exactly what to do.  (As if they haven’t had a practice run at it before!)  Everything went smoothly and from what I could see everyone had a fantastic time.

I moved to frame the couple between the candles.  I liked the way the candles lead you right to their faces.

I caught this little girl hanging around the cake a little too long.  I noticed that the window light was just perfect, so I tried to hide behind a plant to wait and see if I could catch her sampling the icing.  Suddenly she must have sensed I was there and turned to see who was watching her.  I caught the expression of her ”see, I’m not doing anything wrong” glance at the right moment.

I watched the couple as they were dancing and changed my position to frame them behind the cake.

George also plays trumpet with the Salisbury Swing Band.  A very talented group of musicians!

Thank you George and Sara for a wonderful time.  It wasn’t like I was working at all – just there enjoying myself with all the other wonderful guests.

A Shot at Something New

I ran into this guy in the local Rob ‘n Run – He was cutting up a bit and asked me for a map – he needed directions.  Being the smart a$$ cut-up that I am, I politely told him “I can tell you where to go and how to get there without the map!”  From there on we hit it off and he invited me over for some refreshments.  (He was carrying a cold 18 Pak at the time – how could I refuse?)

When I got there I couldn’t believe my eyes.  Now most guys think they’re in heaven if they have a fridge with a couple of 12 paks in it and a stereo in their garage.  A typical guy hang-out.  Maybe top of the line being an actual working tap hanging off the side of an old ‘fridge, a card table and a stack of old tires to set on and maybe a couple of hijacked NASCAR banners on the wall.  Not to be outdone, Russ has a complete sports bar behind his house – including several flat screen TV’s, all sporting NFL Sunday tickets on them!  I’ve been in commercial establishments that didn’t offer anything close to this.  Besides, Russ did all the work himself – quite a talented guy.  I just knew a couple of pictures of this for posterities sake were in order.  Here’s one of my first attempts at HDR photography.

And no bar is complete without a security system.  If you notice he has it ready to go on the edge of the bar!

Now for the icing on the cake!  A complete sports bar with a TIKI bar too!
